Google Error – Mail App – Google – BlackBerry

2009 June 9

I am having a problem with Google, it may be caused by the Apple Mail App, but I am not sure.  I have my Google Account linked with my BlackBerry through T-Mobile and with the Mail App on my MacBook. When I open my Mail App to write a new message, it sends a blank CC to my phone.  One would be ok, but it sends them every 5 seconds or so when I am writing an email from the Mail App.  Also every time I send a message to a someone from my phone using the Google account, it cc’s me every time.  This is annoying to say the least.  I have gone to the T-Mobile website and verified that the CC me on every message is unchecked, but it still keeps sending them to me.  Please help.

I tried contacting Google, but they do not offer phone support for technical issues.  Yes I did call them, but was told via recorded message to look online for a solution.

One more problem with Google, their contacts syncing between the phone and online is jumbled.  It will sync them, which is great, but it moves around the info between fields. It also duplicates them causing it to be almost unusable online.

I am going to Hawaii!  We will be there for 8 beautiful days this May.  I recently looked up the distance from Kansas City, MO to Hawaii and it is 3896 miles.  Glad I don’t have to drive those 50+ hours (over 2 full days one way) to get to the our destination.

PureEdge Viewer – Possible fix for Max OSX – w/o using VMWare

2009 April 29

Install Errorhttp://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/23937

Download PureEdge Viewer for Mac – Access, complete, submit …

I am having problems installing it on my Mac OS X 10.5.6.  Ref the above error screen shot.  I am looking for a fix now. I initially thought that Rosetta, a Max App installed on all Mac OS X, would allow me to install it.  I will update when I have either given up or found a solution.

some explanations
I am investigating this problem with installation and just taking notes as I go.
If you look within
/Volumes/Install IBM Workplace Forms Viewer/MacViewer.pkg/Contents/Resources
that is where package was mounted after you download and unzip it,
there is a file InstallationCheck which is obviously being run by installer.
If you just run this file from command line
> source InstallationCheck
you get “Version error. Exit install”, search for that and you realize that a stupid line inside that batch verifies that your OS is _exactly_ 10.4 not later than that
>system_profiler | grep OS
make a copy of the whole installation pkg to a new location so you can edit that
cp -R /Volumes/Install\ IBM\ Workplace\ Forms\ Viewer ~/Desktop/
then run installation from that location normally
remains to be seen if the software works … but it installs.
Odd that noone at IBM or NIH has fixed that in over a year .

New Blog Goals

I am creating another blog, but this new one will be for a selected group only.  Not for general information, much more specific and unimportant to others outside the group.  Goals are as follows:

1. Integrated already developed products into the site.

2. Provide an up to date calendar for all to view.

3. Invite and allow others to contribute.

4. Provide a central location for sharing documents.

5. Make it extremely user friendly.

If I can get all five of those items accomplished, then it will be a big success.

PureEdge – Mac – XFDL – works

2009 March 7
by derekleeds

As I posted earlier, it is possible to run Pureedge on a Mac.  The key is that you have windows running at the same time.

Task: Operate Pureedge on a computer running Mac OS X.

Conditions: Given an Apple computer, a copy of VMWare Fusion, a copy of windows (preferably Win XP), the pureedge installer, and enough time to trouble shoot any arising problems.

Standard: Successfully install windows as a virtual machine utilizing VMWare run PureEdge on the Mac in Unity.

1. The appropriate software can either be purchased or obtained from existing copies.

a. PureEdge

b. VMWare Fusion

c. Windows XP OS

2. Install the windows OS as either a Virtual Machine (VM) or as a partition on the existing Mac harddrive. If loaded as a partition it will allow you to boot into the alternate operating system whenever needed for full Windows support. After installed as a second partition, you will be albe to use it as a VM as well. BootCamp, preloaded on the Mac, will allow you to partition and install the second OS. Simple process, keep in mind that want to keep the partition small, say around 16-32GB so that it doesn’t eat up the space on your hard drive.

3. Install VMWare.

4. Install PureEdge on the Windows OS. Either in VM or actual partition. The PureEdge installer is easily found online, just do a simple good search for it.

5. Run VMWare and open the WinXP VM. Go to Unity, I have screen shots here. Run PureEdge and open an XFDL document.

6. Save the XFDL on your XP VM and you will be able to print or send later if desired.

Note: The process will take about an hour depending on your processor speed and whether you have the appropriate software available. Online filesharing is illegal only when pirated software or other illegal digital media is shared. Torrents allow the sharing of legal items. It allows a server to move the files to remote computers so that faster speeds and increased sharing will be possible. uTorrent, www.mininova.org.
